Merdeka bash!

It was Merdeka eve. A lot of things to relate about merdeka. Ask them.."Apakah erti kemerdekaan pada kamu?" You get alot of different answers from different perspectives of different generations...

On Merdeka's eve we break into two groups..First was supposedly me and my 'abang'. I'll always try to be with him for the show. I like it especially when the organiser let me sit with the Rock Legends guests. Kadang-kadang malu jugak, when they said.."hey mummy rock, kenalkan ..ni legend rock lapanpuluhan..." I could see their face changed when I secara ikhlas dan lurus tidak berapa mengenali mereka...my answer will always be.."er..sorry..during 80's mummy tak ada kat Malaysia...the only legend yang mummy kenal during the 80's was group Search. I remember in 80's when I was in England, my friend and family send us the cassette of Amy and Search. Songs like, Isabella, Fantasia Bulan Madu boleh buat mummy tangkap syahdu. In fact till now bila dengar lagu Isabela air mata mummy membasahi pipi. Tangkap leleh habis! Lain sesi mummy akan cerita kenapa mummy tangkap leleh dengan lagu Isabela..

The other group for the merdeka nite, is my 'kakak', my 'adik' and daddy. They heading to their 'Mak Cik's house in KL for a small daddy's birthday get together. 'Mak Cik' already bought a cake from Secret Recipe.

My 'abang's band group, 'Revenge' 's performing at Sunway Pyramid...so..yippee!..so I'll get a chance to watch 'bunga api'! for the countdown. ( In this family only mummy seronok and always the one merengek nak tengok the 'bunga api') ....I almost forget to sew his jeans that afternoon. You see this black very tight fitting jeans that he always use for the show (Kesian...this is the only jeans for all his show). Everytime after the show his jeans will 'koyak rabak' at the crotch. So one can imagine how 'ganas' he was, performing on the stage! He and the group appeared on the TV Prima 'EXPOSE' two weeks ago. That half an hour program shows how 'Revenge' 's prepare for the concert and how their followers stay loyal for the concert.

Ok.Ok. so just after Magrib my 'kakak''s group left the house. All of us tried to beat the traffic. We know what it is going to be like with the traffic after nine. ok,ok. my'abang' already left in the afternoon. My 'kakak' keep reminding me to leave the house then! I keep repeating,ok and ok...by 10pm (10pm!) I was ready to leave the house. Was I shocked to see the traffic start congested even from the round about in Bangi!! I knew it then..I'l never make it to my 'abang' 's show. No! I'm going to miss the bunga api! So I changed plan. Called my other anak at MMU. "Can I join you guys at Putrajaya...mummy tak nak miss bunga api..please!"
She said"Then you must come now, me and my group dah arrange nak buat photoshoot malam ni at Putrajaya..leave now! leave you car here (Cyberjaya)"

Ok,ok...now was I kelam kabut!...I could'nt beleive my eyes...just when I reach Petronas Bangi, the road heading towards LDP..I could not see no road...just the lights from unmoving cars! I dont see any vehicles moving...I'm in trouble...luckly,my quick thinking, there's one only exit on the left that can divert me back to Bangi or else I'll be joing the car parade, and maybe if I'm lucky I still can watch percikan bunga api from Putrajaya from inside the car!

Reaching home....suddenly I felt so left alone! I met a neighbor who asked me what was I doing alone at home! Then she told me.."there's a merdeka countdown at PKNS Bangi..ada shows, bunga api..ada artis..Rabanni..." As if there another light that 'light up my life'! which screamed 'I'm not interested in Rabanni..I'm only interested in bunga api!'...

Then I picked Timoh, the Yala lady who's famous for her 'som tam' and kerabu betik- my favourite. She drag her baby along. Kasim passed by, I picked him too. I know Kasim and Timoh for few years now. The two'd been helping me with my house work and others. They never asking for money or any favour. They know I don't like people 'asking' but I like 'giving'..if you know what I mean. That's why I like them.....
There I was, 15 minutes away to laungan merdeka. Me, Timoh and Kasim carrying the baby walking towards PKNS. Never my whole life ever I join the Merdeka Celebration. And tonite sempena menyambut the 50th Merdeka here I was with Timoh from Yala, Thai and Kasim from Bangladesh! And beleive me, while walking towards PKNS 1/4 kilometer (The road closed for the celebration) ,never, never, beleive me you, was I felt so patriotic! Walking and singing ..."tanggal tiga puluh satu...bulan lapan...57....." And the percikan bunga api from the top of PKNS building was awesome!! And laungan "Merdeka!" from thousands of Bangi people. I sang at the top of my voice. I still cant beleive this is happening to me. I sms to my 'kakak', to that she replied.."caya la mummy!"..Deep inside I'm touched and sangat bersyukur di beri Allah rezeki untuk menikmati kemerdekaan seusia ini.I heard this is the first merdeka happening in Bangi...Merdeka!...Merdeka!...
